Book Forum – Issue 51

🔴 As part of promoting reading 📖📖 and supporting cultural activity, the Main Public Reading Library of the Wilaya of Médéa organized an intellectual and cultural session entitled Family Support and the Role of Mothers in the Success of Psychological and Speech Therapy Care, in coordination with the Association of Al-Mumayazoun for Psychological and Speech Therapy Care.

✨ The session was led by:
the President of the Association of Al-Mumayazoun for Psychological and Speech Therapy Care, clinical psychologist Alja Al-Arabi Ben Houra;
clinical psychologist Marwa Missaoui;
clinical psychologist Karima Saadi;
and speech therapist Siham Toubal.
With the active presence and participation of mothers, the session addressed five main themes:

  • The importance of the family in mental health.

  • Positive family support.

  • The role of family pressure, its negative impact, and its effects on a child’s behavior and mental health.

  • The family and partnership with psychological and speech therapy treatment.

✨ The specialists agreed on the importance of cooperation between the family and the therapeutic team to achieve better outcomes in psychological and speech therapy care, as a supportive family environment forms the cornerstone of healthy psychological development.

✨ The specialists also provided a set of recommendations to the attendees, drawing on practical examples and applied insights on ways to strengthen the role of the family—especially mothers—in the journey of psychological and language support for children.

✨ The role of the family is not limited to early detection of communication disorders; more importantly, it lies in the post-diagnosis phase and seeking consultation from specialists, which enables early intervention and increases the chances of improvement.
