🔴 As part of the 48th edition of the Book Forum reading program, and to highlight the contributions of new authors in enriching the cultural scene, the Main Public Library hosted this morning a literary and intellectual session featuring the writer and storyteller Asia Kaddous as the guest of this edition.
🔹 In an engaging discussion, she shared why she chose to write and explore the world of stories, presenting her short story collection Chants on the Marmara Sea.
✨ She revisited her childhood, specifically the second grade, which she considers the starting point of her journey into writing and creativity. She also discussed her early attempts at writing reflections before moving into storytelling.
✨ During the session, she spoke about her collection—introduced by writer Ibrahim Moussa Al-Nahhas and published by an Egyptian publishing house—explaining the choice of its title, and also discussed other stories like “My Mother’s Bread,” “Dostoevsky’s Thief,” “Princess of Exiles,” and “Hands of Betrayal.” All her works reflect real-life experiences and her belief in the writer’s role in serving society.
✨ The author expressed her admiration for writers and poets such as Mahmoud Darwish, Al-Mutanabbi, and Dostoevsky, evident in her style and use of open-ended conclusions that stimulate the reader’s imagination.
♦ The session concluded with selected readings from her book, and alongside the forum, an exhibition of literary and story collections from the library’s holdings was organized.
